The Swiss town of Zug will hold the first municipal ballot on the blockchain. Voters can make their vote in the period from 25 June to 1 July. It is reported by Cointelegraph.

The goal of voting is to know the opinion of residents about the introduction of a new system of digital ID that allows you to vote via mobile phones. EID was first introduced in November 2017. Residents of Zug will have to decide whether to use eID in the future for the state referendums.

Previously Switzerland was ranked among the best countries for holders of the cryptocurrency. Zug has also become one of the world’s key centres for advanced implementation of blockchain technology. The authorities of the city in 2016 has proposed to introduce the acceptance of Bitcoin as means of payment for municipal services.

Such an initiative also announced in the state Duma. Earlier, the CEC head Ella Pamfilova has proposed to hold elections of the mayor of Moscow with the application of blockchain technology.
