Tomorrow Huawei will present a new processor Kirin

As you probably already know, the allegations that Huawei in the production of processors for its smartphones completely relies on himself, turned out to be wrong. Yes, its subsidiary HiSilicon has developed the important components for the chipsets themselves, but it was made using software developed by ARM Holdings, which is engaged in development of processors. Recently, the company severed ties with Huawei, but then it turned out that Huawei have managed to accumulate a year’s supply of components, and, according to Huawei Central, will present the new chipset tomorrow.

No, it won’t be a new processor Kirin 985, which is expected to be released at the end of this year and will be installed in the Huawei Mate 30. This processor will replace Kirin 980, which is currently used in 20 Pro Huawei Mate, Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Also, this chipset is installed inside the foldable smartphone Huawei Mate X. Instead, the new processor from HiSilicon, which is expected to be announced tomorrow will be called Kirin 720 and will be the successor to the chip average level Kirin 710, which is installed in Huawei P30 Lite.

According to rumors, Kirin 720 will be produced by TSMC, a foundry factory, which produces all Kirin processors and modem chips for HiSilicon Balong, and will use the process technology is 10 nm. It’s one generation older than current processors made on technology of 7 nm. The smaller the node size, the more the number of transistors that can fit inside the chip, making it more powerful and more energy efficient.

What special will be in the new CPU

Currently available Kirin 710 is constructed using 12-nm process and features four cores ARM Cortex-A73 operating at a clock frequency of 2.2 GHz. They are used to solve complex problems. Another four ARM Cortex-A53 operate at a frequency of 1.7 GHz and are used for less power intensive tasks and General maintenance. Graphics processor (GPU) — ARM Mali G51 MP4. It is expected that Kirin 720 will have improved graphics processor and NPU. The latter is an acronym for Neural Processing Unit and is used for functions of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Is Huawei on the end of it

Huawei may take years to find a new architecture or to develop its own. Also it seems the unenviable fate of the promised Kirin 985, which may never come out. Of course, the biggest nightmare would end as quickly as it had begun, if the President of the United States Donald trump decided to remove company from the list of banned organizations. The companies on this list are not allowed to deliver parts and components from the States without a license issued by the U.S. government. But the trump acknowledged that although Huawei had originally been included in the list for security reasons, it can be used as a bargaining chip in future trade negotiations, the US and China. Both countries have set tariffs on goods imported from each country during a trade war, triggered by trump in an attempt to reduce the trade deficit of USA with China.

Additional taxes imposed on Chinese goods will not replenish the us Treasury with money from China, as many mistakenly believe from reading a recent tweet trump. This is a tax that American companies pay, and then charge it with a US consumer in the form of higher prices for their products. For example, if the iPhone XR will be included in the next wave of taxable goods, it may lead to an increase in the price of $ 160 per smartphone cost 749 dollars. Although Apple smartphones and developed in the USA, they are manufactured in China.

Trump could use the situation with Huawei to gain more favorable terms in the trade agreement with China, and this may result in the deletion of the company from the list of “banned” in the US, and its return to normal business.
