The new Acer IFA 2018

Acer has just held its own event in Berlin in the framework of the exhibition IFA 2018. Was presented many innovations and we’ve compiled all the information about them in this article.


Acer has updated a line of very light and at the same time productive ultrabooks Swift. Was presented 15″ model Swift 5 (SF515-51C). It weighs only 990 grams, is equipped with a processor Intel Core i7-8565U or Core i5-8265U, Full HD display with a thin framework on the sides and can work on a single charge up to 10 hours. Memory can be installed up to 16GB, SSD up to 1 TB. Interfaces available USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 2 (with support for Power Delivery and ability to connect displays), two USB 3.1 Type-A and HDMI. Laptop sale in the fall will start at $1099.

Has also been upgraded 14″ version of the Swift 5. Model SF514-53T is now equipped with Intel Core i7-8565U or i5-8265U. Other features include Full HD display, the availability of USB 3.1 Type-C to Gen 1, two USB 3.0 Type-A, HDMI, fingerprint scanner and weighs only 970 grams. The price of laptop is $999.

Swift 3 lineup now includes new models with 13.3″ and 14″ displays. Model SF313-51 is a compact 13″ ultrabook with Full HD display and an optional LTE modem. The device is also equipped with a module Wi-Fi 802.11 ac, up to 8GB RAM and up to 512 GB SSD. The autonomy of the new model is about 13 hours. The cost of the laptop – from €799.

14″ model Swift 3 (SF314-55/SF314-55G) can boast a Full HD display, Intel Core i7-8565U/i5-8265U/i3-8145U, up to 8GB RAM, up to 512 GB SSD and measure up to 12 hours of battery life. Also available discrete graphics NVIDIA GeForce MX150. In addition, for users who need a large amount of built-in store will be offered a modification SF314-56/SF-314-56G equipped with HDD. Prices for 14″ Swift 3 starts at $799.


Also Acer has updated the Aspire line of laptops and all-in-ones series All-In-One PC.

Acer Aspire Z 24 – piece for home, as it positions the company itself. It is equipped with Intel Core 8th generation with support for up to 32 GB Intel Optane and NVIDIA GeForce graphics MX150. 23.8″ IPS display has Full HD resolution and supports touch input. Also the monoblock equipped with microphones able to pick up your voice from the far corners of the room to enable you to communicate with voice assistants such as the Alexa or Cortana. Yet it is worth noting the presence of stereo speakers with support of technology of Acer TrueHarmony and Dolby Audio Premium. The cost of Acer Aspire Z 24 starts at $899.

The laptop Aspire 7 got a 15.6″ display with a resolution of up to Ultra HD (3840×2160), Intel Core i7-8705G or i5-8305G, the Radeon RX Vega M GL Graphics, up to 16GB RAM and up to 512 GB SSD.

5 offers Acer Aspire 15.6″ Full HD IPS display, Intel Core processors of the 8th generation, graphics NVIDIA GeForce MX150, Gigabit Wi-Fi and support for various proprietary technologies. Price – from €549.

Line Aspire 3 includes 14″ laptops with the ability to upgrade internal storage, equipped with up to 8 GB of RAM and an optional DVD drive. The cost starts from €399.


Forgot Acer and virtual reality. Were presented two new headsets – Acer OJO 500 and StarVR One.

Acer OJO 500 is a new affordable virtual reality headset. Its feature is the modular design which allows easy to clean the device and share with other users. It will be available with head strap hard or soft, which can be washed. In addition, OJO 500 with an audio system that eliminates the need to use headphones.

As to the characteristics of OJO 500, it is equipped with two 2.89″ displays with a resolution of 2880х1440 pixels, viewing angle of 100 degrees and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. Comes with 4 meter cable, through which the headset is connected to PC (via HDMI 2.0 and USB 3.0) and two Bluetooth-controller. In the US Acer OJO 500 will go on sale in November priced from $399, in Europe the new model will cost €499.

Headset Acer StarVR One was already submitted earlier this month. It is equipped with two displays with a diagonal of 4.7 inches with a resolution of 3660×1464 pixels. Refresh rate – 90 Hz, field of view – 210 degrees horizontally and 130 degrees vertically. In addition, the device supports the technology of tracking the direction of gaze of the company Tobii. Built-in camera monitors the pupils with the help of the outgoing infrared radiation from LEDs positioned around the lenses inside the headset. Of connectivity there are four USB Type-C, two DisplayPort. two USB 2.0 Type-A connectors for microphone and headphones.


There were, of course, and without novelties playing cards microSD.

Triton Predator 900 – convertible 2-in-1 gaming laptop. The novelty attracts attention with its appearance, especially the implementation of fastening of a 4K display due to the special design it can be used as a regular laptop, or tablet, it is enough to flip.

In addition, Triton Predator 900 is equipped with coolers Aeroblade 3D 4th generation, fully mechanical keyboard and trackpad, which can also act as unit Num-keys. Yet Acer doesn’t specify the specs, but there is no doubt that there will be set a top iron.

Also updated the desktops Predator. The old model was refreshed, adding the management of RGB led, and the new Predator X was equipped with two Intel Xeon processors. Unfortunately, no more details were not disclosed.

Interesting new Acer became game Predator Thronos. Ergonomic chair is only part of the whole structure, which is attached to three 27″ monitor. The gamer can configure the most comfortable position for myself (the chair reclines to 140 degrees, also provides a footrest). The cost of “game of throne” has not yet been disclosed.

Among the other novelties I note the new Predator XB273K monitors (27″, IPS, UHD, 144 Hz, NVIDIA G-Sync, certification DisplayHDR 400, retails for $1299) and Nitro XV273K (27″, UHD/WQHD IPS/TN, 144hz, FreeSync AMD, the price is $899), laser projectors series PL and SL, as well as various accessories and peripherals.
