SD Express is the new standard in memory cards with a maximum speed of up to 985 MB/s

Organization SD Association has introduced a new SD card, memory stick Express. It adds support for spec PCIe 3.0 and NVMe 1.3, which allows for maximum data transfer speed of up to 985 MB/s.

Theoretically, this new SD memory card Express allows you to replace a portable SSDS. The data transfer rate they will be at a comparable level, and the maximum amount of new cards will be able to reach 120 TB. The new standard is backwards compatible with existing memory cards and equipment to read them.

Specification SD 7.0 will allow to use SD card for shooting and playback 8K video, burst shooting in RAW format and other demanding tasks. Support the new specifications will initially be available in the SDUC cards, SDXC and SDHC.

The first SD Express drives must be on the market in the next few years.
