Samsung released a 30-terabyte SSD

Samsung started production of an SSD from the line PM1641 the capacity of a record 30.72 TB.

The product is made in the form factor 2.5-inch and this amount is a record for such devices. The drive contains 32 chipset with a capacity of 1 TB. They use a 64-layer memory V-NAND. The SSD is equipped with interface Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) with a data transfer rate 12 GB/s. Performance on operations with random access is 400,000 IOPS in read mode and 50 000 IOPS when writing. Speed sequential read and write of about 2100 MB/s and 1700 MB/s respectively. There is protection against data loss during a power outage.

Samsung provides five year warranty on the new SSD. The company says that the drive is able to withstand overwrite during this period. Also in this range available SSD TB 15.36, 7.68 TB 3.84 TB 1.92 TB, 960 GB and 800 GB.

The cost of new items not yet disclosed, but a low it will not be exact. In 2016, Samsung asked for a model with a capacity of 15.36 TB 10 000 dollars.
