New iPhone models and the Apple Watch will run longer thanks to new technology

Soon Apple can improve the autonomy of their devices, thanks to new energy-saving screen technology. This is with reference to its reliable sources according to analytical company IHS Markit. According to the report, development is a long time — Apple already has three registered patent with a detailed description of the methodology.

Currently, all known AMOLED-matrix is built on low-temperature polysilicon thin film transistor (LTPS TFT). According to the source, Apple plans to make major changes in the structure of this type of matrix. Alternatively, LTPS, the company intends to use the new screens low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO). This will solve several problems:

  • First and foremost, it will affect the battery life. New display technology will be more economical by 5-15%.
  • Plant a screen will be subjected to a more accurate calibration.
  • This type of matrices can potentially support a higher resolution.

As noted by the IHS, Markit, this technology will be much more difficult and expensive to manufacture. However, the device based on the LTPO can wait for a few years. It is expected that this screen will first get the Apple Watch, as it was in the case of OLED matrices. Then, if not found significant design flaws, the technology will be implemented in the iPhone.
