NASA will land a woman on the moon after 5 years in the framework of the mission “Artemis”

In March, 2019 Vice-President Mike Pence announced that the space Agency NASA should become a “more compact and flexible” organization and to return Americans to the moon in the next five years. The Director of the Agency Jim Breidenstein immediately accepted the challenge, and at the moment, the organization plans to send humans to Earth’s satellite already in 2024. This mission is notable because it is the first step women on the lunar surface.

Space Agency chose the 2024 no accident — then since the first landing of men on the moon under the program “Apollo” will be held exactly 55 years. In 1969 the first steps were taken by men, so this time, NASA plans to send to the moon first woman. On this basis, it is not surprising that the mission 2024 is called “Artemis”, in honor of the twin sister of the Greek God Apollo.

The name of the mission was published on may 13, when NASA released an updated budget request for the implementation of the mission. That to the crew of a future mission will include a woman, Jim Bridenstine announced in April.

The first woman on the moon will be American. This is the main Declaration, which will adhere to NASA.

The Director of the space Agency explained why it is so important to send a woman to the moon. According to him, it’s very nice that after half a century since the completion of the Apollo program, the crew with a female astronaut will be sent as part of a mission called Artemis.

I have a daughter who is 11 years old and I wish she could see herself in the same role that another woman is going to the moon.

Mission “Artemis” is in its infancy — at the Agency yet tested rockets and capsules that are guaranteed capable of delivering humans to the lunar surface. How it intends to successfully carry out the mission in light of the fact that even unmanned vehicles to crash, is also not clear.

Recall that to send people to the moon are committed to other organizations. For example, the company Blue Origin recently introduced lander Blue Moon, which is able to carry up to 6.5 tons of payload. More about this can be read in our special article.
