MIT has created inks that can change colors like a chameleon

However, if chameleons can long retain its color due to the physiological characteristics, the photochromic materials retain the changed state only when exposed to radiation. That is, as soon as the photochromic material “cease to Shine”, the color of the object will return to its original state.

However, in 2018, a group of scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of technology (MIT) have learned to print on a 3D printer the object whose color can be changed using ultraviolet or visible radiation. The flaw in this design was the only one — the subject should initially create a new material. For more than a year experts have worked hard to create on the basis of their developments ink that you can use for painting any objects.

Scientists from MIT have created a solution containing three dye: cyan, Magenta and yellow. Each dye has photochromic properties, and is activated by visible light of a specific wavelength. The solution can be applied to any object in any convenient way: using a sprayer, paint brush and so on. Then the object should be put on a rotating platform on which shines the particular emitter.

Repainting occurs in two stages. First paint the object is illuminated by UV light, causing all the dyes are activated.
