Microsoft confirmed — Edge browser will switch to Chromium

A few days ago Jack told you about the rumors about the desire of Microsoft to translate Edge on Chromium. It turned out that the rumors were groundless.

Today, Microsoft has officially confirmed that the Edge will soon replace the engine. The new version of the browser will be based on Chromuim, which is the basis of most modern browsers. Note that while the changes will affect only the desktop version.

Microsoft claims that the switch to Chromium will improve the compatibility, and in addition, will give the company the ability to run Edge on macOS. We promise an easy transition, which we supposedly won’t notice, so I guess, the interface is fundamental will not change. At least the first time.

Release dates were not disclosed. Microsoft only says that pre-Assembly for developers will appear sometime early next year.
