Media: Russia is considering the possibility of mining minerals on the moon

According to the RIA Novosti news Agency referring to a source in the rocket and space industry, Russia is considering the possibility of mining minerals on the moon. At the beginning of 2030-ies on the Earth’s satellite is planned to deploy the whole of the research polygon. According to the interlocutor of the Agency, with such offer to the state Corporation “Roskosmos” and the Russian Academy of Sciences appealed NPO Lavochkin.

The source indicates that the moon in 2031-2035 years are invited to send four automatic unit that will deliver reusable craft for transporting cargo, heavy Rover for mining and modules for the construction of a lunar base.

In the framework of the mission “Luna-33” to the satellite of our planet are going to send orbiting spacecraft that will provide communications and navigational capabilities for future lunar exploration.

Earlier, the head of the Roscosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, said that in 2021 the moon is planned to send a landing station “Luna-25”. It will search for water ice at the South pole of the satellite. This will be the first Russian lunar mission after a 40-year hiatus — the Soviet station “Luna-24” was launched in 1976.

In 2023 it is planned to launch the Orbiter “Luna-26” (exploration), and in 2024-m — landing station “Luna-27” (collection of soil samples at the South pole). In 2027 and 2028, respectively, it is planned to dispatch missions “Luna-28 and Luna-29”, respectively. In the course of the Earth want to bring samples of lunar soil, and deliver to the satellite a lunar Rover.

According to the latest data, the first Russian manned mission to the moon expected in 2031. Then manned landings on the Earth satellite will be conducted annually.
