Kirin 980 will present on August 31 at IFA 2018

Huawei has announced the event which will be held on August 31, in the framework of the exhibition IFA 2018. It is expected that it will be presented the new flagship chipset Kirin 980.

Information about the new SoC is not much. It is assumed that Kirin 980 will be made for 7-nm FinFET process technology by TSMC company. It will be 20% more powerful than its predecessor and 40% more energy-efficient.

Kirin 980 will include an eight-core CPU, which consists of four high-performance Cortex-A77 with a maximum clock frequency of 2.8 GHz and four efficient Cortex-A55 operating at frequencies up to 1.8 GHz. The graphics GPU will do its own design Huawei.

Also flagship chipset Huawei will be updated in the neural computation unit (NPU) developed by Cambricon Technologies. Machine learning technology will be used primarily for processing photos.

The debut of Kirin 980 smartphone will be held this fall. The first devices based on this chipset will be a Huawei Mate Mate 20 and 20 Pro.
