Japanese engineers have taught a robot to work in tandem with human

Modern robotics is already pretty well developed. Just look at least on recent progress Boston Dynamics or to remember that China is already building a factory where robots are creating other robots. But a group of researchers from Japan have developed an algorithm that will help robots to learn this skill.

The development are engineers from the University of Tokyo headed by Masatoshi Ishikawa and, reportedly, they have created a dynamic interactive system of interaction between man and robot, which allows the machine with high speed and low latency to adjust for the conduct of joint operations.

A prototype manipulator has 3 “fingers” to robotic “hands”. A set of infrared sensors and high-precision tracking system based on high speed camera allows you to capture the smallest details in the human movements, and to predict on the basis of moving object and thus to adapt to work together. To do this, however still need to consolidate a number of reflective markers on the object itself, to follow him.

At this point the robot can rotate the object around two axes and move it so that it was always in a horizontal position. Developers themselves admit that the system can still be modified and greatly improved and can find application in various industrial, material handling and Assembly lines.
