Intel becomes the only supplier of cellular modules for iPhone

Intel began production of LTE chips, which reportedly will be used in the line of iPhone 2018. It is expected that new modules will get the LTE Advanced Pro that will provide the potential data transfer rate at 1 GB/s.

At the moment, in the current model the iPhone installed modems from Intel and Qualcomm. The reason for this was not only the differences in the range of LTE frequencies, but also different types of cellular communication. For example, for the us market are supplied chips of Qualcomm-enabled CDMA networks. While for Europe and for the CIS modules are used Intel.

New development of Intel in the future will allow to refuse services to Qualcomm. As it became known, the cell modules Intel has been significantly improved and has received support both GSM and CDMA networks, allowing to use the communication services around the world. This will save the Apple from the need to produce models for specific markets.

Nevertheless, some analysts still claim that some of the orders will arrive and Qualcomm, due to the insufficient production capacity of manufacturer of desktop processors. It is expected that a full transition to Intel chips with support for fifth generation networks will take place in 2019.
