How to reset the HomePod

As you know, the HomePod allows you to interact with only one Apple ID. If you want to use the device with another account or sell it, then you will need to reset the settings of the HomePod. How is it done?

To date, there are two ways:

C using the application “Home”

This requires that your iOS device and the HomePod was connected to the same Apple ID account. Directly the statement itself:

  1. Run the application “Home”
  2. Find your HomePod in the list of accessories.
  3. Hold your finger on the icon until the option “Information”.
  4. This menu will contain all of the information on HomePod. Find the option “Remove accessory” and confirm the deletion.

You’re done! HomePod will do a factory reset and will automatically reboot. It will take a couple of minutes immediately after that you can re-configure the device.

In addition, the reset can be directly through the column. This is done in the case if you do not have access to a device with the same account which is configured HomePod.

  1. Press and hold the upper part of the HomePod, where is Siri.
  2. Without releasing the button, wait until the color of the button will be red. Siri will alert you that the HomePod is now reset.
  3. Hold your finger, wait for three beeps, then the button can be released.
  4. Wait a few minutes until the reset process.
