How to get Android notifications and answer them on your PC or laptop

Today we have a lot of services and applications for work or communication. And it would be convenient to keep all notifications (and answer them) in one place. Just the sync is not officially supported by neither Microsoft nor Google. More precisely, it used to be. But now the software giant from Redmond decided that it is time for it to end and has released an update for Windows 10 that allows you to receive Android notifications and respond to them on your computer.

Today, it is worth noting, goes on third-party apps like Telegram, which is synchronized through its own algorithms, namely notifications OS from Google. All you need is Windows PC 10 version 1803 or higher and Android smartphone with Nougat OS 7.0 or later with at least 1 GB of RAM on Board.

Also you will need to download these two apps:

Now you need to open the companion app on your smartphone and log in to your Microsoft account. You will also be asked to take the application’s request to access some features of the gadget. After that, open the app that you downloaded to your computer. It is important that you were logged into the system under the same user name Microsoft, which introduced the program on the smartphone.

If done correctly, when you open the application on your PC, you will receive a notification on your Android smartphone. Click on it to confirm the connection between the two devices.

After that you can read and reply to SMS messages, view the gallery of videos and images, and quickly transfer pictures from phone to computer. You can also synchronize your smartphone’s notifications on the sidebar of Windows 10. This feature is useful for all those applications that still do not have their own counterpart on the PC.

Moreover, some programs are already beginning to support the “Share” which allows you to project what you see on the smartphone screen, on your computer. So potentially in the future you will be able to use any installed app without having to take your phone out of your pocket.

The smartphones that are already working with this new sync feature (list should be expanded with time):

  • OnePlus 6
  • OnePlus 6T
  • Samsung Galaxy S10e
  • Samsung Galaxy S10
  • Samsung Galaxy S10+
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9
