How to change the keyboard in iOS 13

As predicted earlier, Apple has updated the built-in keyboard in iOS 13. The design remained the same, but the developers added a new way of typing – using swipe and touch gestures. This function has been called QuickPath and is already available in the first beta version of iOS 13. Unfortunately, the option does not work in Russian.

Innovative method of text input

The method of typing using gestures existed for a long time — it was designed by engineer cliff Callera in 2010. Initially, the development was its application in a third-party keyboard under Android. The project was called Swype. Later, the same development is now available on iOS.

Only in 2019 Apple decided to implement a similar way of typing in a regular keyboard. While that QuickType is far from ideal — algorithm in prediction of words works with the delay, and the choice of words leaves much to be desired.

No support for Russian language

A big disappointment for Russian-speaking users will be that this innovation is only available in foreign languages. Currently supports English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese and simplified Chinese.

Unfortunately, there is no reliable information that the option will work in the Russian language with the release of the public version of iOS 13. Let’s hope support will be added in newer updates of the operating system.
