How has the battery life of iPhone on iOS 12.1.1

As soon as it becomes available in the next update of the operating system, many users are starting to wonder — what exactly has changed in the battery life of the iPhone. The same question was asked and a leading YouTube channel channel iAppleBytes. By tradition, the blogger conducted a series of independent tests on different devices and ready for your verdict.

In total, the test involved several smartphones: iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8. To obtain the most objective information, and to eliminate the influence of wear on the batteries, testing was performed on the same devices before and after the upgrade. For testing were chosen well-known benchmark Geekbench 4 in the “Battery Test”. In this case, the indicators of autonomy are measured at a constant intensive CPU load, which simulates real-world usage scenarios.

The results of the test were as follows.

iOS 12.1

iPhone 5s is 2 hours and 39 minutes;

iPhone 6 — 2 hours and 34 minutes;

the iPhone 6s is 2 hours and 36 minutes;

the iPhone 7 is 3 hours and 1 minute;

iPhone 8 — 3 hours and 11 minutes.

iOS 12.1.1

iPhone 5s — 2 hours and 38 minutes.

iPhone 6 — 2 hours and 36 minutes;

the iPhone 6s is 2 hours and 37 minutes;

iPhone 7 — exactly 3 hours;

iPhone 8 — 3 hours and 12 minutes.

Apparently the update does not carry improvements that would somehow affect the battery life of the iPhone. These measurements differ from each other only slightly, and are within the statistical error.

Recall that iOS 12.1.1 is available for download on 5 December. The new version brings improved preview notifications on your iPhone XR, support Live Photo FaceTime and other minor visual improvements. Also been corrected errors and omissions that were seen in previous builds of the system.
