Google released a competitor to Apple’s News. And it works in Russia

Last week at its annual developer conference I/O Google introduced its new app “Google news” on the basis of artificial intelligence. The app replaced the service “Google Play Newsstand” and is already available in the App Store, including in Russia.

Google news largely depends on your preferences, which are selected together with artificial intelligence. This means that after you download the app and sign in to your Google account, the news will already seem like history and headlines, which, according to AI, you will need.

In the application in the tab “For you” is the summary of the stories that, according to Google, should be of interest to you. For me it was the mix of political news, technology and sports. On the “favorites” tab you can add certain topics, sources, and places that interest you.

In fact, Google has released a serious competitor to the Apple News, which may get updated this year. Apple News is currently not available to Russian users, and the probability of its appearance in Russia in a new role is quite low. Most likely, Apple would prefer testing out the new service on already familiar markets, and then, satisfied with the result, will be engaged in its further proliferation.
