Google added to Chrome reader mode

In my opinion, Safari is the best browser from those available on the market today. It is fast, economical and thoughtful. Apple has equipped it with many small, at first glance, the features that form on this positive impression. But Google not far behind, and from time to time equips brand browser the same features that were available in Safari. First, the search giant has added support for nightly themes, and now and got to read mode.

As recently as today Google has released an update of the test version of its browser – Chrome Canary — in which adds support of reading mode. It is very convenient when reading online magazines or Newspapers. Mode disables all ads or featured articles, allowing you to focus only on the text and related images. This manages to achieve a deeper immersion without being distracted by pop-UPS, banners or other page elements.

How to activate reader mode on Chrome

At the moment the read mode only works in the desktop version of Chrome Canary (download). However, there is every reason to believe that in the near future it will be available to users of mobile devices.

  • To enable reading mode, it is necessary to visit the section with flags by going to chrome://flags;
  • Here we have to find the flag #enable-reader-mode and activate it;
  • After that, restart your browser and open any article on any news site;
  • Open the context menu by pressing the three vertical dots and activate Distill page.

If done correctly, the page will change and will look something like in the screenshot.

If necessary, you can configure the page the way you want it. Here you can change the size and type of font, choose your background tone to hyphenate.
