Cockroaches are able to develop resistance to all types of chemicals

Red cockroaches, also known as Blattella germanica, is widely distributed in Russia and represent for the people a greater threat — they are carriers of E. coli and Salmonella, and their feces often cause allergies. The worst thing is that at the moment against them there is no perfect chemical because some individuals have a natural immunity to certain substances, and genetically pass it on to their offspring. Judging by the results of research scientists from Purdue University, to create a universal poison against cockroaches is simply impossible, and mankind is doomed to live side by side with them.

At the moment the most effective method of controlling insects is the use of several tools. Thus, if one of the chemicals does not work, there is a chance that part of the roaches will be exterminated the others. This approach seems perfect, however, the new discovery suggests that cockroaches are able to develop a protection even against those poisons which they are not familiar to you, you can say that they are almost invincible.

Best cockroaches does not exist

This conclusion was made in the course of the experiment, where the researchers caught a home of cockroaches and find out what substances they already have resistance, and for six months subjected them to exposure to various poisons, then to compare the results.

First, the researchers used three chemical and alternated them every month. Another group of cockroaches during the entire study were exposed to two different classes of funds. In the third case, the cockroaches are poisoned by the chemical, from which they were protected the least.

Six months later, the researchers found that with the alternation of chemicals that cockroaches maintained their numbers at a certain level, and they became neither more nor less. The use of two different means do not gave any results — apparently, they quickly developed immunity to both substances, and continued to proliferate. The third approach gave mixed results, because in one group the number of pests decreased and the other increased.

In examining the surviving cockroaches and their offspring, the researchers found that they developed an immunity even to those substances with which it has not previously encountered. According to Professor Michael Scharf, resistance to poisons cockroaches in one generation sometimes increases as much as six times. In his opinion, extermination of cockroaches one only chemicals is simply meaningless.

How to get rid of cockroaches?

In the end, they proposed the use of chemicals together with all kinds of traps and also to maintain cleanliness in the premises and never to leave food out in the open. Of course, good old sneakers against cockroaches has not been canceled.

At that time, as one half of humanity trying to get rid of the invasion of cockroaches, the other creates their robotic copies. They are called VelociRoACH, and recently learned to work in a team and help each other to stand up.
