Blackmagic eGPU is an external graphics card for MacBook

Apple yesterday introduced not only updated the MacBook Pro, but the unit with external graphics card, developed in conjunction with Blackmagic.

Operating system is macOS only recently got support for external graphics cards. To be more precise – the version of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. This allows owners of iMac and MacBook significantly improve the performance of their devices.


Blackmagic eGPU established on the basis of Radeon Pro 580 with 8 GB of memory. The device has two Thunderbolt 3 ports, four ports USB 3.1 and HDMI port. Apple notes that eGPU works fine with the monitor LG UltraFine 5K Display, which the company sells.

The cost of Blackmagic eGPU is $699. The device will be on sale this weekend.
