5 unknown features of Android that you’ll use

Even those who use the Android OS for several generations can be unaware to its functions, about which we will cover in this article. What can we say about those who has come to Android only recently. From generation to generation, Google is trying every way to improve and simplify interaction with its mobile operating system for new and old users. Sometimes it goes well and sometimes not, but about five really useful and little known features, we will tell you right now.

So, below is a list of the five most undervalued, in our view, the functions of the Android OS.

Notification channels

Overload smartphone notifications – is simple enough. It is enough to install several messengers to allow when you run all of the standard notifications and all, it’s in the bag. This order of things is unlikely to suit the majority of users and data flow in a short time boils the head. In this case, what to do, decided for you by Google.

Starting with version Android Oreo in the system have become available so-called “notification Channels”. It is, in fact, the same notification settings for apps, but only more clever. To get to these settings, go to the following path: Settings > Notifications, there tap on the desired app and then go to Notifications. Here it is possible with high accuracy to configure a scenario of receiving these annoying notifications from chat, groups, individuals, or maybe notification about birthdays or the change of avatars. Yes, in some applications, these settings were already available previously, but now it has become possible to make the level of the system.

Configure the optimized application

The so-called Doze Mode has arrived on Android with version 6 and introduced one very important innovation. If you look at this regime the surface, one might think that this is just the ordinary energy-saving mode. The way it is, but it’s in the nuances. Doze Mode is working the system and too early to affect his work or setting was impossible. Mode just worked in the background and then when you leave your smartphone unattended, it shut off all the unused sensors (motion sensor, accelerometer, sensor, etc.).

With the coming updates feature significantly improved and now it has become the available settings. For example, you can add to the list of exceptions Doze Mode for specific applications so that they can continue to run in the background or a separate notice. To go into the settings Doze Mode, go to Settings > Applications and notifications > Advanced > Access specific apps > Optimizing battery life. Just find the app you want to delete, and click to switch to “Optimize” by “optimizing”. Just do not make exception too many applications, and that Doze Mode will not optimize your battery at the proper level.

Scheduled mode “do Not disturb”

Surely we all know that Android has a special mode “do Not disturb”. But not everyone knows that the enabling and disabling of this mode can be scheduled by time. For example, you can set the time mode at 9 am and the off time at 18:00, so while you are in the workplace, the smartphone did not produce distracting sounds for incoming notifications.

To configure the on and off function, go to Settings > Sound > do Not disturb. See “Enable automatically” you can choose when the feature “do Not disturb” is activated and is disabled by specifying the specified action time. When you configure this mode, all data on the time it is activated and off will be synchronized between all your devices.

Multi-function shortcuts

The ability to call an additional menu when you long-term holding your finger on the application icon was added in Android 7.1 but still about this convenient feature, don’t know everything. And some felt that this thing is useless and to use it did not. A very good reason! Enough to rest my thumb on the camera icon on the desktop for a couple seconds and you will be available submenu with the ability to run from certain camera modes.

Many other applications are also available such shortcuts to their popular functions. Among other things, these additional shortcuts each of the applications can be migrated from the submenu to the desktop and thus obtain the special app icon that will directly launch a specific action with it (set a new alarm icon on the clock, sending a message in the messages icon, and so on).

The consolidation application menu under sharing

Menu sharing, or as it is called, the menu “Share” is the interface where you can choose from the list of applications, the total access to web pages, photos and other types of content. Now its use has become much easier because there was the ability to pin apps that you use frequently.

To forever prohibit some menu element, you have to touch and hold a second finger on the icon until a drop down menu with a button to “Fix”. After clicking on it, the app will forever be enshrined in the top of the menu to share.
